Heart Attack Victim Improves Quality of Life
A heart disease patient is reporting that participation in a stem cell research trial in Arizona has improved his quality of life. Thomas Lankford, an award winning journalist and heart attack victim, is able to lift up and play with his grandson again after adult stem cells were implanted into his heart muscle.
Stem Cell Research Study in Arizona
The research trial, taking place at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Arizona is run by Dr. Nabil Dib, a cardiologist who has been a believer in adult stem cells for many years. Dr. Dib implanted the stem cells into the heart muscle of Lankford using a minimally invasive catheter with a special needle attached. The procedure doesn't involve surgery and Lankford was awake the entire time of the stem cell procedure.
Before the stem cell treatment
- Couldn't lift his 5 year old granddaughter
- Couldn't work in his yard and garden
- No energy, shortness of breath
After the stem cell therapy
- Can pick up and hold his granddaughter
- Used a chain saw, which "I couldn't even crank two months earlier," to saw downed trees into fire logs. I then split and placed the logs into stacks.
- I can now walk miles without any shortness of breath or tightness in my chest. I can lift up the garage door in one motion, and easily lift and pour the five-gallons of gasoline into my farm tractor. I can walk up stairs without resting.
From the
stem cell news story:
I am in the project's second of three phases. This one involves the injection of 75 million stem cells. Only 25 million cells were injected in each participant in Phase I, and 150 million cells are to be injected in Phase III.
The purpose of the study is to determine if the injection of special cells can help restore heart muscle function and to try and determine what number of cells is the magic number of cells needed.
I keep pinching myself to see if I am dreaming, or if this new-found energy is for real.
Ho Hum - More Lives SaveD By Stem Cells
This shouldn't come as a surprise as there are plenty of these stem cell research studies showing that adult stem cells are beneficial to heart disease patients. There was this
research study in Germany showing the benefits of stem cells and where I argued that there is so much evidence that adult stem cells help heart attack victims that it should be a crime of humanity NOT to give something that so obviously can help. Also, there was this recent completed
stem cell study in America that showed the same thing.
While adult stem cells don't help every time, they give the heart attack patient the greatest hope and there are no side effects! The worst thing that can happen is nothing. If a doctor told me "Hey Don, there is a good chance these stem cells will make your quality of life better, but there is a chance they will do nothing." I would say "Go ahead Doc, what have I got to lose?"
Even Frank Drebin of Naked Gun Can Figure This Out. Why Can't the FDA?
You can see more than 50 stem cell success stories in our
heart disease section if you need more evidence. Evidently the FDA is not a reader of the Don Margolis Blog as thousands of heart disease patients are dying every year due to the fact that adult stem cells are not available to Americans except in limited clinical research trials.
Americans now are traveling abroad to countries where adult stem cells are used as they are forced to go due to the FDA who claim to "protect" patients from "unproven" treatments, but in reality are killing them.

Research Study Shows Adult Stem Cells Effective For Heart Disease
A new double blind study just released this month proves that adult stem cells are effective for heart disease patients. The Reinfusion of Enriched Progenitor Cells And Infarct Remodeling in Acute Myocardial Infarction (REPAIR-AMI) research trial shows that patients who received their
own stem cells after a heart attack did significantly better than patients who didn't receive adult stem cells after a heart attack.
From the
stem cell research study:
The statistics that shouldn't give anyone a heart attack if you know even a little bit about adult stem cells are as follows:
- 101 heart attack patients were given their own adult stem cells, 103 heart attack patients received a placebo.
- 2 years after their heart attack, 0 patients who had been given stem cells had suffered a 2nd heart attack, while 7 heart attack patients from the placebo group did have a second heart attack. This is a statistically significant difference.
- 3 out of 101 heart attack patients given stem cells died, 8 heart attack patients given the placebo died.
- Only 1 out of 101 patients given stem cells had to return to the hospital for congestive heart failure, while 5 of the 103 heart attack patients given the placebo were rehospitalized for heart failure.
When We Be Able To Get Stem Cells?
All stats favor the the
heart attack patients who received their own adult stem cells. This shouldn't surprise anyone and is just further proof that adult stem cells should be given to every heart attack patient as a standard medical intervention. The fact that stem cell therapy is still not available to the millions of heart attack patients around the world every year is practically a crime against humanity. I can't think of a reason NOT to give these patients stem cells.
More Research Is Needed? Why?
Of course, Dr. Birgit Assmus, the leader of the study, and assistant professor of cardiology at J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, plays down his impressive results and says " "More research is needed, but this gives us a hint of what might be possible with this new treatment — prevention of another heart attack and of rehospitalization for heart failure, both life-threatening complications." Assmus also says "Large, randomized trials are urgently needed to assess the effects of progenitor-cell therapy in patients with heart attacks."
Just once, I want to hear one of these doctors who complete these stem cell research trials with tremendous results say "YES, I just proved that adult stem cells are effective. Let's start using them!!" That would be better than these "medical establishment" correct statements that just say "we need more money for more research studies."
But bravo anyhow to Dr. Assmus. Well done.

A Shocker? Adult Stem Cells Help Heart Attack Patients
A new stem cell research study shows that giving adult stem cells to a patient who had suffered a heart attack is more effective than giving a patient nothing following a heart attack. Dr. Joshua Hare, of the University of Miami, along with 10 other universities completed a study that shouldn't surprise any readers of this blog.
Research Clinical Trial Details:
The study enrolled 53 patients who had suffered a heart attack within 10 days. 75% of these heart attack patients received infusions of adult stem cells. 25% of the heart attack patients received a placebo (ie. nothing).
Unsurprisingly, the 75% who received the stem cell therapy are now faring better than the patients who didn't receive anything.
All patients were tested using an MRI and echocardiogram,
From the
stem cell news article:
After six months, patients who received the adult stem cells were four times as likely to have improved overall condition, were able to pump more blood with each heartbeat than untreated patients, had only one-quarter as many dangerous heart arrhythmias, and suffered no toxicity or other serious adverse side effects from the treatment.
Echocardiograms showed patients had improved heart function, particularly in those patients with large amounts of cardiac damage. Patients also have improvements in lung function.
Why? Emergency signals sent out by wounded heart tissue attract help from stem cells. It's probable that the stronger signal from the more damaged hearts attracted more of the stem cells to the site of injury, suggest Cleveland Clinic researchers Marc S. Penn, MD, PhD, and colleagues in an editorial accompanying the Hare report in the Dec. 8 issue of the
Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Joshua Hare, Led the Research Study Using Stem Cell Therapy
Stem Cell Therapy Available In United States in 2020?
While this is a promising stem cell research study, if you are thinking this may help heart disease patients in the United States in the near future, you are sadly mistaken. This was only a Phase 1 study. Phase 2 and Phase 3 studies must still be completed and approved by the snails at the FDA and then this was only a trial for patients who had a heart attack within the last 10 days (before receiving the stem cells).
What if you had a heart attack 5 years ago and now suffer from congestive heart failure? Well, there are still
congestive heart failure trials going on, but don't expect anything in the United States for at least 5 more years. That is the reason more and more Americans are leaving the comforts of the United States.
Nonetheless, this is a nice addition to the overwhelming evidence that adult stem cells can help heart disease patients. -Congestive heart failure, recent heart attacks, coronary artery disease- all have been shown to be helped by stem cell therapy using adult stem cells. So if you aren't convinced yet that
adult stem cells can help heart disease, I'm not quite sure what else I can do.
Is Stem Cell Therapy A Cure For Heart Disease?
No, I'm not saying it is a 100% cure. I'm not saying it works in every case of heart disease. But, I am saying that giving adult stem cells has no side effects AND there is a good chance that it will help improve a heart patient's quality of life. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be given to all heart patients. To not give them something that could save their life is essentially sentencing them to death.
.
When will the FDA wake up and make stem cell treatment available to the general population? Until they do, they are costing people their lives by doing nothing.
If you are interested in stem cell treatment using adult stem cells, please write me an email at don@repairstemcells.org and we will assist you in seeking therapy- unfortunately it will most likely be abroad in a foreign country.

Stem Cell Research Used For Breasts!
Stem Cell research is now being used not only to help improve a sick patient's quality of life, but also used for cosmetic purposes. Breast augmentation or breast enlargement is the latest use of adult stem cells- using a person's own stem cells.
Available In The United States? Of Course Not
In the U.K. (of course not the United States where the only thing we are first at is implanting embryonic stem cells into rats and celebrating it), Lucy Mead, 23, became the first woman in the U.K. to use stem cell treatment for breast augmentation.
Before And After Pictures of Stem Cell Breast Augmentation
You can see the "Before Stem Cell Treatment" and "After" here:
A First Person Perspective- Stem Cells For Breasts
Lucy, describes the stem cell treatment for her breasts in her own words in this
stem cell news article:
The title of the article is aptly named : The stem cell boob job: It takes fat from your thighs to boost your bust - but does it work?
Here is more from Lucy on the results of the stem cell therapy for her breasts using stem cells taken from her own fat--
There wasn’t any bruising on my breasts. They’re noticeably bigger, lifted and more rounded giving a lovely shape in my clothes and they’re the same size as each other now, too.
My clothes definitely feel looser already over my thighs and hips even though it’ll be another few days before all the swelling’s gone down.
Friends tell me my breasts look amazing and, best of all, I know they’ll be with me for good now without fear of any of the complications you can get with implants such as rejection, calcification or even having to have them replaced in a decade’s time. Dr Mike Comins says: Stem cells have drawn a lot of controversy in recent years, mainly in relation to embryos. But they are causing a lot of excitement in the medical industry as there are dozens of uses for them, such as repairing and replacing cells damaged by heart attacks.
The Stem Cell Enriched Breast Augmentation is the first time stem cells have been used in purely cosmetic surgery. It's safe, effective and cost effective. It’s a very natural, organic way of improving the shape and size of the breasts
More on the stem cell procedure:
He explained that the procedure would be carried out under local anaesthetic and would involve removing fat from my hips and thighs – where I naturally carry excess fat.
Half of this would then be put through a special machine that extract and condense the stem cells. They would then be mixed with the remaining fat and injected into my breasts.
Dr Comins told me that unlike previous methods of fat transfer which may only last a few months because the fat cells are often absorbed into the blood stream or simply die, the stem cells used in this new process generate their own blood supply once inside the breasts and successfully integrate the fat with the surrounding tissue. The results are totally natural, permanent and instant.
Previously Covered Cosmetic Stem Cell Treatments
We previously covered this treatment before. Not only is it now being used for cosmetic purposes, but also for women who have had a
lumpectomy and want breast reconstruction
Also, it is now being used cosmetically as a
safer, less invasive stem cell facelift.
The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is..
While these are not life-threatening diseases or conditions, it simply further proves that using your own adult stem cells is a safe proposition- so patients with heart disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.. have nothing to fear from stem cell therapy.

Stem Cell Research For Heart Attacks
Aaron Woods, a congestive heart failure patient who had suffered through 3 heart attacks is reporting major improvements in his quality of life thanks to
new stem cell research using his own Adult Stem Cells.
In a
new press release by the
Xcell Center in Germany, Woods says:
"I no longer have any angina pain or shortness of breath; no symptoms whatsoever. I am walking 3 miles per day and lifting heavy weights again. I consider this a complete reversal. I saw my cardiologist 2 weeks ago for more testing and he is still shaking his head!" exclaimed Aaron Wood five months after treatment. Mr. Wood was suffering from heart failure following three heart attacks and was treated at the XCell-Center's Dusseldorf clinic in May 2009.
Stem Cell Treatment Explained
The treatment begins by collecting a small amount bone marrow from the patient's hip bone using a thin needle under local anesthesia. The stem cells ae then separated from the bone marrow at the XCell-Center's EU certified cGMP laboratory (current good manufacturing process). Before the cells leave the lab, they are counted and their vitality is confirmed. The last step of the treatment is the minimally invasive implantation procedure, which consists of inserting a cardiac catheter into the patient's right femoral artery and then guiding it to the heart where the stem cells are released into the coronary arteries.
Stem Cell Heart Disease Treatments Offered Now
"We are offering heart patients a practical, affordable and State of the Art therapy . We know that autologous stem cell therapy can improve their quality of life and Mr. Wood is a perfect example. Patients like Mr. Wood no longer need to wait for 'treatments of the future'. They can undergo stem cell-based heart treatments at our world-class treatment facility in Dusseldorf, German today," said Dr. Cornelis Kleinbloesem, the XCell-Center's Director.
Another Heart Patient Forced To Travel Abroad For A Safe Treatment
Aaron Wood is just the latest congestive heart failure and heart attack patient to improve following
stem cell research and treatment.
We have covered heart disease patients who have improved in clinical trials in the United States as well as Americans like
James Eilert who have had to travel abroad to receive a safe treatment that should be made available to heart disease patients in the US, but is not.
Filling A Void
The Xcell Center is just the latest stem cell treatment center of many to begin treating the heart. While the US muddles slowly through multiple years of clinical trials (for treatment using your own cells??) , millions of Americans unnecessarily suffer and die. Or, they are forced to travel abroad. It is sad.
